Diploma in Accounting

Program Objective

This University of Malaya Diploma in Accounting program aims to develop graduates with accounting and business management skills to either develop their career or further their education in field of accounting.

Career and Academic Pathway

Graduates of the Diploma in Accounting program will have the opportunity to further their studies to a Bachelor Degree in related fields at local universities. Graduates of this program will be able to obtain positions such as Accountants Assistant at Government Departments and Statutory Bodies subject to the prescribed conditions of the public service.  The graduates will also be qualified to hold various posts in the private sector.


Accredited by MQA (SWA10025) and recognised by JPA. 


The program duration is 2 years.  Students will need to take 30 courses to complete the program. The courses that students need to complete are as follows:

Class Schedule

Students will take 3 to 6 courses every semester. Classes are held in Petaling Jaya.  


Examinations will be held at the last week of each semester.   


The Diploma in Accounting will be awarded by University of Malaya.

Teaching Methodology

This program is taught through lectures, discussions, presentations, projects and case studies. 

Degree Studies

Students who successfully complete the diploma can apply to the University of Malaya for admission to its degree programs. Students can also transfer to the International University of Malaya - Wales in Kuala Lumpur to complete their degree.
